Editing my photographic images

When editing my photographic images I tend to use the software Elements 11, as I personally get along with this software better than I do with Adobe Photoshop.

Before I even start getting around to editing I make sure when I'm shooting that I have my camera set to RAW + Basic JPEG to ensure I am able to edit the images to the best of my ability a lot more freely than if they were just JPEG's and not RAW files.

This image is an edit from the original, I have changed the exposure, used masked layers and straightened the image slightly. The use of masking layers is very helpful if you have an image that has two important parts to the image and are at different exposures which needs you to edit them as different parts of the image.

This is the unedited image (Above). This is an original image that I took without post editing done to it, as you can tell the difference is very noticeable. By editing the photographic image in post production adds to the photograph itself and helps to make the exposure more equal around the whole image.
